About Me

Jen McRae is the artist behind McRae Design, creating one-of-a-kind wearable art from original abstract paintings. Working in liquid acrylic on Yupo paper and thin hardwood, she explores line and pattern through the push and pull of precision and spontaneity. Pigments are allowed to move and flow, then she cuts the tiny moments she finds in them into unique shapes using a laser. Each piece is sealed with UV resin for durability and brilliance and finished with hand-painted beads and laser-cut wood accents. Her materials often include the unexpected, such as repurposed Fender guitar picks and recycled leather, and she's drawn to the contrast between controlled design and the raw unpredictability of the medium. The result is jewelry that challenges the boundaries between fine art and craft. Jen holds a degree in interior design and a master's in museum studies and art education. Her background includes work as an exhibition designer, graphic designer, and marketing director for a chamber of commerce. She exhibits at juried art festivals across the Southeast. |
